Everything on this site that is not a listing is written by me. The listings themselves are collected automatically from the organisations that run the events — park conservancies, museums, business improvement districts — and are never rewritten by hand, because a listing that has been through a person is a listing that can be wrong in a way nobody notices.

The guides are the opposite. They are opinions, and they say so. When I write that the Ravine in Prospect Park is worth the walk, or that two small museums in a day is the limit, that is a judgement from having done it, not a fact I found somewhere.

Addresses, admission prices and what a place actually is are verified against the institution's own site before publication. Opening days are deliberately left out: small institutions change them more often than they update their own front pages, and a guide that tells you confidently to turn up on a Tuesday is worse than one that tells you to check.

Anything that changes with a funding cycle — free hours, pay-what-you-wish policies, seasonal programming — is flagged as something to confirm rather than stated as settled.
