The short version: there are no accounts, we do not sell anything about you, and the analytics we keep are counts, not profiles.

NYC Now Guide (nycnowguide.com) publishes a guide to public events in New York City. This policy covers the website itself. It does not cover the organisers' sites we link to — once you follow a ticket or official link you are on someone else's site, under their policy.
Nothing that identifies you by name, unless you send it to us yourself.
When you open a page, your browser tells our own counter that a page was viewed. What is stored is a daily total per day — how many page views, how many visits, how many people — and, for an event page, a daily view count for that event. There is no row describing your visit: no browsing history, no list of the pages you read, no IP address, no user-agent string. Nobody outside this site receives any of it, because there is no third-party analytics script on the page at all.
The keys that stop the same person being counted twice in one day are one-way hashes mixed with a secret that changes every day. They cannot be reversed, they are not linked to anything about you, and they are deleted automatically within about a day — which is also why yesterday's key cannot be matched to today's.
Advertising counters work the same way. When a sponsored panel is actually on your screen it counts one view, and a click counts one click. The de-duplication key that stops the same view being counted twice is a hash of the same rotating secret, a truncated network signal and a device class — never your address, never a stable identifier, and it expires within hours.
If you fill in the advertising enquiry form, we keep exactly what you typed — name, company, email, phone, website, event link and message — so we can answer you. That is the only place the site asks for personal details, and it is optional. A copy is delivered to our own mailbox at our hosting provider so we can reply from email; it is not shared with anyone else and it is not used to advertise to you.
The site sets three first-party cookies, all HttpOnly (no script can read them) and all holding random values with no meaning outside our own counters:
nyc_vid — a random visitor id, so a person returning next week is not counted as two people.nyc_sid — a random session id, so five pages in one sitting are counted as one visit.nyc_sat — the timestamp of the last page view, which is how a session is known to have ended.None of them follow you to other websites. Clearing them costs you nothing: the site works identically without them.
Paid placements on this site are sold directly. They are always marked Sponsored, and what we report back to an advertiser is a count of views and clicks for their own campaign — never anything about the individual people behind those numbers.
We do not currently run a third-party ad network on the site, so no advertising cookies from other companies are set.
Page-view and advertising counters are stored as daily totals with nothing personal in them, so they are kept indefinitely; the short-lived de-duplication keys behind them are deleted automatically within hours. Enquiries sent through the advertising form are kept while we are doing business with you and for up to two years after the last contact, and deleted sooner on request.
The site is a general-audience events guide and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to see, correct or delete personal data we hold about you, and to object to its processing. In practice the only personal data we are likely to hold is an enquiry you sent us — ask and we will show it to you or delete it.
