About this event
Reserve Tickets Become a Member $35 General Admission | $30 Students & Seniors | $30 MOCA Members | Materials Included Inspired by MOCA’s special exhibition Ed Young’s Bright Worlds , the Chinese Arts Workshop Series at the Museum of Chinese in America (MOCA) invites participants to explore traditional and contemporary Chinese art through creative practice. This fall, discover the cultural histories, philosophies, and stories behind Chinese art forms in a welcoming space for learning, experimentation, and connection. The series opens with two evenings of Chinese calligraphy led by Teaching Artist Yu Rong . In a relaxed, social studio setting, participants will learn foundational brush techniques and create characters and compositions inspired by autumn. They will also have the opportunity to practice writing their names in Chinese calligraphy, with personalized guidance from the artist. All materials are provided. Just bring your curiosity and enjoy an evening of artistic exploration at MOCA. You’ll leave with your own calligraphy artwork, new creative skills, and a deeper appreciation of Chinese artistic traditions. Registration Notes Please register using your full name and include your Chinese name if you have one. If you do not have a Chinese name, the artist will prepare a phonetic rendering of your name in Chinese characters. Please also register at least one week before the workshop date to give the artist time to prepare personalized writing instructions. All art supplies, including Chinese calligraphy brushes and ink, are included.
