First Friday: Cyanotype & Collage Workshop with Nadia Bongo

Inspired by Designed to Be Red: Native American & Indigenous Poster Works , this cyanotype workshop will invite participants to creatively reflect on the summer or imagine their ideal fall. Working with teaching artist Nadia Bongo, participants will create posters that represent a personal memory or aspiration. The workshop will be hands-on: after a short introduction, participants will learn the cyanotype and collage techniques needed to unleash their creativity and imagination. Participants will leave with a new method of self-expression and a deeper understanding of design. Nadia Bongo is a teaching artist and translator with a PhD in French literature from Aix-Marseille Universite. A former Brooklyn Poets Fellow, her writing and/or photographs have appeared in African Voices , Litro online, Solstice , The Citron Review , Blue Mesa Review , and elsewhere. Nadia was the September 2025 Teaching Artist in Residence for the Washington Square Park Conservancy. Her co-directed poetry short film, Wandering In Beauty , is on view at the Bronx River Art Center as part of a group exhibition. Accessibility Note: Masks are available free of charge at the museum.
