OHNY: Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial Arch Tours

Have you ever wondered what the inside of the arch at Grand Army Plaza looks like? On this Open House New York tour led by the Urban Park Rangers in partnership with Prospect Park Alliance, visitors can view the interior of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial Arch, an American Civil War memorial in Grand Army Plaza. Each tour is 30 minutes. Save the date! Registration for this Open House New York tour opens October 2. Rangers will lead tours of the monument, which has undergone significant preservation including recent restoration work by the Prospect Park Alliance. Visitors can ascend three flights of stairs to view the "Trophy Room" located in the space above the archway. Tours will discuss the history of the arch, the Brooklyn regiments commemorated there who served during the Civil War, and the ongoing effort to preserve the memorial for future generations. Tours from 10-12 will be led by David Yum, the architect of the Arch's restoration and Director of Architecture + Preservation at Prospect Park Alliance. Please note that the tours will not include access to the outdoor roof terrace of the Soldiers' and Sailors' Memorial Arch.
