About this event

The Art Students League of New York and the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation invite you to the opening of Works in Public in Riverside Park South, celebrating sculptures by Alicia Ehni and Robert Franca.About the Artists & ArtAlicia Ehni, Balancing A Peruvian shaman once told Ehni to carry a lemon in her purse, that it brings great harmony in life and in interactions with others. Two fractured pre-Columbian ceramics carry ancient coastal knowledge, opening possibilities to imagine a different future. Balancing reflects on the fragile relationships between people, nature, and the built environment.Robert Franca, The ChairsThe Chairs explores family as the foundation through which we understand ourselves and the world. Seen through a child’s perspective, the chairs embody imagination, openness, and freedom from conventional rules. Their human-like forms suggest movement and the ability to change. Ultimately, the chairs speak to the importance of finding balance — within ourselves, within families, and in navigating the challenges and uncertainties of an ever-changing world.
