About this event

Come celebrate the opening of the new contemporary art gallery at Old Stone House. Land, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness brings together new work by Indigenous artists Luanne Redeye, Ella Mahoney, Leonard Harmon, and Jeremy Dennis to examine the contradiction between the Declaration of Independence's promises and the dispossession of Native lands on which the nation was built. Through works including Redeye's layered monoprint collage, Mahoney's Theories of Belonging, Harmon's altered 1776 flag work ntapi nuxwis (I Am Here My Grandchild), and staged photography work by Dennis, the exhibition transforms the Old Stone House into a space for truth-telling, resilience, and imagining sovereignty beyond colonial frameworks. More about Ma's House:Guest curator and participating artist Jeremy Dennis, a member of the Shinnecock Indian Nation and executive director of Ma's House & BIPOC Art Studio, brings an Indigenous-led framework to the exhibition.
